Creating Shared Value through Social Investment

Our social performance approach in Suriname

In Suriname, TotalEnergies’ Social Performance approach is closely linked to its operations and to the GranMorgu project lifecycle, building long-term relationships and supporting social and economic development in line with national priorities.

Driving impact through stakeholder engagement

Actions are driven by continuous stakeholder engagement and dialogue, combined with the integration of sustainable development across social investment initiatives. This approach helps identify priorities and develop targeted initiatives addressing key areas such as healthcare, education, road safety and community well-being, at both local and national levels.

While implemented locally, all initiatives are aligned with TotalEnergies’ global stakeholder engagement framework and the principles of the TotalEnergies Foundation, ensuring consistency and long-term impact.

How we engage

Stakeholder engagement in Suriname is continuous and structured, taking place across several districts and involving communities and stakeholders directly or indirectly linked to our operations.

Our engagement approach combines regular dialogue with targeted interactions during project execution phases and is based on:

  • Engagement with authorities, businesses, civil society and communities, including fisheries and Indigenous & Tribal Peoples
  • Consultations conducted as part of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) process
  • Integration of stakeholder feedback into follow-up actions
  • Establishment of a formal grievance mechanism to address concerns

Our Social Investment pillars

Social Investments in Suriname are structured around four complementary pillars, guiding project selection and ensuring coherence across initiatives.

Social investment portfolio in Suriname

TotalEnergies implements a portfolio of social investment projects aligned with these pillars and national priorities. The portfolio evolves each year to reflect changing needs and priorities. In 2025, more than ten projects were delivered across Suriname, aligned with these pillars. Flagship initiatives illustrate how this approach is implemented in practice.
