During a visit to Suriname, Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, met with H.E. the President of Suriname, Jennifer Simons, and visited Kuldipsingh Port Facility, one of the three logistics bases supporting the GranMorgu project. The facility, already used to support drilling activities, has now received the first major subsea production equipment for the project.
Since the Final Investment Decision in October 2024, GranMorgu has progressed according to schedule. Construction of the FPSO, manufacturing of the subsea production system, risers and flowlines, as well as preparation for upcoming drilling campaign and offshore installation activities, scheduled to begin in early 2027, are steadily progressing towards the First Oil in 2028.
Creating shared value and long-term opportunities in Suriname
GranMorgu is already generating investment, employment and business opportunities in Suriname as it moves into its execution phase. At full development, the project is expected to support approximately 6,000 direct, indirect and induced jobs and generate between US$1 billion and US$1.5 billion in spending in Suriname over its lifetime.
The project's growing activity is already generating demand for local services, and technical expertise. By the end of 2026 more than 600 jobs are expected to be held by Surinamese nationals while more than 100 local companies across various sectors are already contributing to the project. TotalEnergies and its contractors are also supporting workforce development, supplier qualification and recruitment, while partnerships with educational institutions and initiatives such as SURICAP are helping prepare Surinamese professionals and businesses for opportunities during project execution and future production operations.
