First GranMorgu Offshore Equipment Arrived in Suriname

Paramaribo, April 14, 2026
The first subsea equipment for the GranMorgu development has arrived in Suriname marking a new milestone in the execution of the project. The Long BaseLine (LBL) system components were delivered at the end of March at the Dr. Jules Sedney Terminal in Paramaribo.

LBL (Long BaseLine) is an underwater acoustic positioning system that uses seabed installed acoustic transponders to enable vessels and subsea equipment to determine their precise position on the seabed. This technology is essential during offshore installation works, ensuring that subsea structures and components are installed with a high level of accuracy in deepwater conditions.

“The first equipment arrival in Suriname marks an important step forward as we move from project preparation to offshore execution,” said Artur Nunes da Silva, General Manager of TotalEnergies EP Suriname.

The delivery of the LBL components represents a visible milestone in the execution phase of the GranMorgu project. The offshore installation campaign, scheduled for June 2026, will be the first offshore installation activity carried out in Suriname for the GranMorgu project.

Offshore installation activities will be carried out in close coordination with key contractors including Saipem, ensuring safe and efficient execution in line with the highest industry standard.

This milestone confirms the progress of the GranMorgu deployment, which continues to advance towards first oil expected in 2028.

About GranMorgu
The GranMorgu development is the first large-scale offshore oil project in Suriname. Located around 150 kilometers offshore, it is based on the Sapakara and Krabdagu discoveries and includes a 220,000 barrels per day FPSO. With estimated recoverable resources of more than 750 million barrels and an investment of around $10.5 billion, the project is expected to contribute significantly to the country’s economic development, including through local content and job creation.
