TotalEnergies EP Suriname and APA Suriname Corporation mark construction milestone in the GranMorgu Health Care Project at AZP
As part of the USD 13 million GranMorgu Health Care Project, the investment at AZP will strengthen specialized maternal and child healthcare services in Suriname.

Today, following a planning and design phase tailored to the requirements of a live healthcare environment, TotalEnergies EP Suriname and APA Suriname Corporation marked the start of the construction activities under the GranMorgu Health Care Project at Academisch Ziekenhuis Paramaribo (AZP). The event represents an important milestone in a broader USD 13 million healthcare initiative that includes investments in maternal and child health services at both AZP and 's Lands Hospitaal.
At AZP, the project will support the renovation and expansion of the healthcare facilities dedicated to maternal, neonatal and pediatric care. Planned improvements include upgrades to maternity wards, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) infrastructure, as well as establishment of a dedicated pediatric emergency room.
The project will be implemented in phases from 2026 through 2028, with construction activities, equipment deliveries and healthcare improvements rolled out progressively during this period. In parallel, AZP will expand its Pediatric Outreach Program, bringing specialized pediatric services closer to communities in Apoera, Kwamalasamutu, Brownsweg and Moengo through outreach clinics, virtual consultations, training and partnerships with local healthcare providers.
